The actual raid with 3,000 men began in Kentucky on July 2, 1863, and went through Indiana and Ohio. Morgan and 364 men surrendered at West Point, Ohio on Sunday, July 26, 1863

It’s been said Morgan’s rebels rely for their safety upon their discipline and the rapidity with which they can divide their command, scour different sections of the country, and again unite in force.
Two such occurances actually happened during the raid through Colerain: Harrison and Miamitown to Venice; and Venice up Colerain Pike and Blue Rock road to Bevis Campground.
